Celebrate Christmas 2025 In Your Own Home!
With Mortgage rates at their lowest level in quite a while, it’s a good time to get mortgage ready for 2025!
Christmas is almost upon us and it’s a time for relaxation, rest and of course reviewing the past year and making plans for the future. Do you dream of owning your own home and decorating it just as YOU would like it to be? What sort of layout would it have? A small garden or a big one – or none at all! Cooking up cosy dinners and snuggling up to a movie of your choice…
Owning your own home is a dream for many of us, and, whilst it can sometimes seem that it will remain just that – a dream – there are steps that can help you reach your financial goals and get on that property ladder!
Having a home of your own does not have to be conventional. Many younger people are considering alternative housing options, such as investing instead in a small piece of land and placing a cabin on it – be that off-grid or with full facilities.
Others are considering group purchases of a larger house or plot and sharing it between them. This thread on reddit has some interesting experiences from people who have looked at group buying.
Whatever your personal preference it s important to consider all legal obligations and to ensure you have written out your agreements carefully and legally in order to cover yourself in the future should disputes arise.
Having a home of your own does not have to be conventional, however everything needs to be signed and in writing.
Make sure you know your rights
The Citizens Information website has some great resources on the steps to buying your own home, for example, in Ireland, you can purchase property whether you are an Irish citizen, an EU/EEA citizen, a non-EEA national, or even a non-resident. However, owning property does not grant you the automatic right to reside in the country. Your eligibility to live in Ireland is determined by your individual circumstances and is independent of property ownership. Check out the full article here for more useful information >>
